So. What have I done lately?
Well, I went up the Empire State building and took pictures of unsuspecting tourists.
And while I was up there, I took a couple of pictures of the city. It seemed a shame not to.

Where have I been?
That's really none of your business. Suffice to say that they let me out.
Now. Here are some pictures I took before I went inside.
East 7th St. and Ave. A.
There used to be a club called A7 on this corner back in the Nineteen Eighties. A band called Ism wrote a song about it, and it was the B-Side for their cover of the Partidge family song "I Think I Love You", which featured a picture of two fornicating monkeys with the faces of Shirley Jones and David Cassidy. That was very amusing when I was 15 years old.

Coney Island Mermaid Parade 2010
Hey boys and girls and boy-girls and hipsters and artistes and guys who like to see a lot of paint covered breasts and Burners who somehow got stuck on the east coast for a weekend and every photographer in the tri-state area and ladies and gentleman of all ages! It's the Coney Island Mermaid Parade! YAYYYYYYY!!!! (imagine Kermit the Frog running around flailing his arms about here).
And here she is at a more contemplative moment.
I do not know this vision of fabulousness's name but I imagine it is something like Senorita Lolita Velveeta Fantastico-Majestico de la Ciudad de la Alphabeta. And the dog's name is even longer.
And here she is at a more contemplative moment.
The theme of this year's festivities Oil Spill! which provided the artistes with an opportunity to feel socially conscious and less creative types an opportunity to throw together a costume with some rags and a bottle of Hershey's syrup.
There were some fantastic costumes...
And breakdancing...
And boobies of all kinds...
And hipster parents humiliating their children...
And annoying jerks getting in your way so you can't get a decent shot of Lou Reed..
And an elephant! And drag queens on stilts! And giant papier-mache phalluses! And an Elvis impersonator in assless chaps! And Brooklyn dudes in their classic cars! Well, I don't have to tell you that I was so over-stimulated I couldn't finish my dinner and ran around in circles 'til way past my bedtime.
